Gorgeous setting! Friendly staff and very clean. It is a bit far out of Lilongwe central. Great if you are looking for a quiet place to stay. Kitchen amenities are available but at an added cost.

"Glamping" (glamorous camping) has always seemed pretty silly to me, but I change my tune after doing a safari with Ken in South Africa.

I had a great day away from Lilongwe and was really happy with the trip. I will go back home more knowledgeable of Malawi. Elywin is a great guide, pleasant and I was in safe hands.

Malawi.
Ok, not exactly a ‘secret’, but Malawi is one of the best countries in Africa and hardly anyone goes there. It’s brilliant! Thanks to Barefoot Safaris for all the arrangements. And Elywin was the best guide...

Rwanda
The trip was unbelievable!! This is something I would recommend to all I know. A MUST DO trip for all! Thank you Barefoot Safaris for providing this well planned adventure with highest standards. Barefoot Safaris really delivered as all planning was done to the last extend and the standards of this tour is top class. We experienced Rwanda as a country of loving friendly people with our best interests at heart. Obviously the Gorilla trekking was the highlight of the trip and seeing a family of 33 gorillas after a 5-hour trek is such a great reward. Huge thanks to the great people at Barefoot Safaris, I will be in touch for our next adventure…

Barefoot Safaris, provided an excellent African safari tour. We have been traveling for many years and the guides in South Africa were the best we have ever experienced. There is simply no better way to experience South Africa than with Ken and Barefoot.

South Africa and the Cape is an absolutely fascinating country - one which fully deserves to be known better. The infrastructure details were accurately described in your brochure, and any shortcomings were made up with the richness of historical culture offered to us. Thank you for a brilliant holiday Ken

The safari in Tanzania was fantastic and even better than I expected or hoped. Elywin was brilliant and dealt with everything (police, cooking, flat tyres, etc, etc.). He was also an unbelievable spotter and pointed out more animals than all the rest of us combined. Thanks to all at Barefoot Safaris Team.

I absolutely loved my time in South Africa, but that should not be a surprise! One of the highlights was certainly the two drives we did through Pilansberg with Ken explaining what he saw and demonstrating an incredible knowledge of the birds, flora, fauna, and " the bush."

Back in good old UK again
A much drearier place than where we’ve been in Malawi! We loved the country, its people and the animals and birds. Just a quick thank you to the Barefoot team for being such a lovely ‘host’. We really loved South Luangwa, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there as well. We will certainly recommend you to any friends who want to travel to Africa for a safari and hopefully come again ourselves.

After our safari to the Ruaha national park, Barefoot Safaris took us to Zanzibar.I really enjoyed Stone Town. Probably because it’s so different from mainland Tanzania: it has historic buildings, museums, bustling city life. This all is the result of the very different route in history Zanzibar has taken from its partner Tanganyika, with which it has formed the United Republic of Tanzania since 1964. Its attraction lies in the car-free narrow streets which show the Arabic and Asian influences and did remind me of Kathmandu or Jerusalem. We stayed three days, visiting Stone Town, which is almost hassle-free to walk around on your own, exploring more and more of the backstreets on every visit. A very well orginised safari. .

After much research and confusion, I did my first trip to Zambia and Malawi the end of last year with Barefoot Safaris. It was one of the most amazing trips I've ever been on in my life, and I can't say enough good things about Ken, Mr. Barefoot, himself. We spent the first few days doing a walking tour - which he is particularly known for and I still day dream about that experience. I can't wait to go back! It was also my first time 'camping' and I have to say I really appreciated how safe I felt with him. Ken also used local people in his operation and do work with some of the villages to upgrade Chingole school in the north of Malawi ,there to make sure that money was going back into it. The game in South Luangwa is amazing!!

Most important thing to me is that a company is responsible, responsive, well organized and an ethical reputable company. You are putting thousands of dollars up front and traveling around the world for an Africa trip. Want to be sure things go well, and if there are problems that they are dealt with quickly and professionally. This is what I found in Barefoot Safaris. Adelaide was handling my booking. Her ability to listen and implementing my ideas made it my best safari ever.

Malawi and Zambia
In Malawi and Zambia, we used Barefoot Safaris for our tailor made tour. Elywin our guide and the staff at Barefoot lodge exceeded our expectations and comes highly recommended in my book. It is easy to see the differences in guides when at the different lodges and camps, by the way the staff respond to our guide and the attention given to us the clients. Barefoot safaris earned my respect, not only how the safari was run , the safari lodges and camps used ,but also how Ken and Adelaide planned and booked all. Our next safari is again with you. Namibia!

The accommodation was superb , the vehicle very comfortable and the guiding first class as always . Also the pre safari accommodation at The Glass Manor (Johannesburg ) added a touch of luxury before our journey started and was an ideal place to wind down at the end of the Safari . Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam
Our safari with Barefoot Safaris has been extraordinary. We started in Johannesburg at the home of Ken, the proprietor or Barefoot Safaris, and ...his wife Eva. This was an unexpected delight. We had no idea we would be treated to an extraordinary luxury braii (a traditional South African barbecue) with delicious and copious amounts of South African wine in their very comfortable home. We didn't even know Ken would be the one taking us on this safari, and we feel incredibly lucky. He has lived in South Africa, Rhodesia (present day Zimbabwe) and Malawi over the course of his life and has been leading safaris for 30 years. He is a wealth of knowledge, has vast experience in the African bush, is an easy going, kind man and generally fun to be with.
